AMAZING weekend

I fear that this post may run long & picture heavy.  But quite seriously, this was just about the best weekend EVER.

Let's start by explaining - normally we would cram two turkey dinners with both of our families into Thanksgiving. This weekend, Dad & Adam were both working backshift, so Mom decided to come hang out with Mark & I & the boys.

A couple of weeks ago, I won a prepaid Visa from DHBC, so Saturday morning dawned bright & beautiful, so we headed into the city to experience some new stuff.  By the time we arrived on the waterfront, it was lunch time, so we started out with lunch at The Battered Fish.  Can I just say, there isn't much better than eating deep fried haddock on a bench in the sun.  :)

After lunch, we headed up to the Discovery Centre.  I had only been there once before, quite a few years ago, and couldn't wait to take Alex!  He had a great time, just like I knew he would.  We got there just in the nick of time - they were doing an "ice cream show" in the theatre when we got there.  Have you ever eaten ice cream made with liquiid nitrogen?  I have.  Delish.

So, after making bubbles, running races, checking out the tons of awesome exhibits, we headed for Freak Lunchbox.  For those of you who are not local, I'm sorry.  It totally sucks to be you.  I wasn't allowed to take photos inside the store, but just imagine every candy you ever ate as a kid, plus more, stockpiled into a storefront.

We also checked out Bishop's Cellar before picking up Chinese food to bring home for supper.  Thanks again Downtown Halifax.  Our Big Day Downtown was AMAZING.

Sunday also was an amazing fall day.  Temperatures of 25 degrees + are not normal for Nova Scotia in October, especially considering there was snow on the ground in some places just 3 or 4 days ago.  Mom & I packed up the boys & headed to Ross Farm.  It was a huge hit with Alex and we had a great time looking at the animals, riding the wagon, and checking out all the exhibits.  We came home, BBQ'd a late supper and then roasted marshmallows & drank wine by the outdoor fireplace.

Today, Mom had to head for home.  So, we spent the morning just tidying up and hanging out, but FINALLY got to have some turkey dinner with Mark's side of the family this afternoon.  The kids played well, we ate an awesome turkey "lunch", and then came home to settle the kids down.  A little game of touch football wrapped up the afternoon.

Now it's time to get my boys ready for the real world tomorrow, school & work are back in session!

Can hardly wait for next weekend - a late Thanksgiving with my family, and hopefully some apple picking in Memramcook!
