now i'm sick. LOL life's great. on the plus side, alex seems to be feeling better today, and no matter how sick he is, he's still one happy baby! time for breakfast (me & him!)

a mumble jumble of thoughts

first of all.. thanks to you mommas out there who posted comments on my "bad day" post. none of my friends really have babies and nobody quite gets what i'm trying to say. i guess i'm going to have to find a way to meet some other moms. on another note, we just brought my little man home from outpatients. he's got infections in both ears and a terrible cold. he's miserable, but still smiling. update: little man is finally in bed. mark & i decided to stay here in oxford for one more night just so we didn't uproot alex after the hubbub of the hospital. we're going to head off tomorrow. i'm looking forward to getting home to my own house, but it sure is nice to have mom's help with alex being sick.

just what i needed

mark ended up getting monday off work, so on our way home from walmart today, he suggested that we come up to mom & dad's for a long weekend.. coming home is like a recharge.. mom & i can relax over a glass of wine, dad & i can hang out and play playstation 2, and they love having alex here to help me out when they can. of course, if you don't count my grandmother hovering over the baby and me all the time, its a recharge. if you think about that, it's a big, sweaty, breathing, stressball. i'm choosing to not think about my grandmother and enjoy my time at home. i already feel better then i did the other day, and i'm really going to try and relax. alex is battling a cold, so now i feel bad for my "regrets" when i know he's sick and needs me. hmmmmmmmmmmm.

a bad day..

i guess today i'm just kind of longing for what used to be. i love alex to death, but i'm having one of those day where i miss work, i miss being able to just pick up and go whenever i want, and i miss having alone time. i feel like a bad momma.

xmas came again tonight :)

yay! the ring that mark bought me for christmas was back today from being sized, so i went to bridgewater to pick it up.. while i was there, i stopped by walmart and used my gift certificates i got for christmas to get the 2nd season of grey's .. whee!! i have several dates scheduled with mcdreamy & mcsteamy ;)

a great time.

wow.. mark & i spent the best weekend ever this past weekend.. for xmas, mom & dad booked us a hotel room in halifax, gave us a gift certificate for dinner, and a bottle of wine, along with a babysitting gift certificate. we stayed at the quality inn on parkland drive in halifax, did dinner at boston pizza, did some shopping and basically just had a great time. we really needed the recharging, it did us a world of good!

a quick update..

Alex & I arrived home safe & sound in Chester at 10:30 or so this morning. :) This is what it looked like when we got here!

still in halifax

ok.. the car's fixed and mother nature is still NOT on our side. freezing rain has hit now, but keep your fingers crossed that things clear by tomorrow morning. i want to go home! my hubby misses his baby boy (and me.. i think!), and i want my own bed (not an air mattress)!

a rotten end to the weekend...

so, i had a great weekend at home with mom and dad.. lots of laughs, and relaxing time with them and alex. i left there in my brother's car to bring it back to chester, and he was going to come to my place tonight for a visit with alex and to have supper, and switch cars with me since he had been driving mine since thursday.. then.. mother nature decided to play the cards she's been hiding all winter.. the snow started the closer i got to halifax and by the time i hit the bedford highway, things were messy.. regardless of that, adam and i flipped my stuff out of his car and into mine for me to make the rest of the trip to chester, just in case he couldn't make it down because of the snow. as i drove down the kearney lake road about to hit the highway to go home, the brake line broke in my car. i lost my brakes, on already slippery roads, and did a 180 degree turn in 3 lanes of traffic.. with a baby in the backseat. talk about scary. so, i called adam back and he came to r

how life used to be... ?

mark is off work today, and his mom offered to keep alex for the day so we could get some things done around the house.. we have cleaned out the basement, organized all the clothes alex has grown out of, done 3 loads of laundry, cleaned the house, and mark is now downstairs playing with all the new tools he got for xmas. music is pumping from the basement, and we're actually going to sit down and enjoy a meal together without having to stop halfway through to feed/change/entertain the little monster. is this what life was like before baby? it's very quiet in the house, and i can't wait til after supper when we go to pick up my little smiley-bug.

just because i love him so much..

here's a new pic of my baby boy in his fancy new nike track suit he got for xmas!

pleasant surprise :)

what a nice surprise.. mark's cousin jeff came for a visit today with his girlfriend.. ahem, fiancee.. they got engaged recently! i'm so happy for them, they're seriously the cutest couple ever! we don't see them often since they live in montreal, but when they are here, the four of us always try to get together for a coffee or a quick visit. this was their first meeting with alex, and christina fell in love i think! bonus for us.. the wedding's going to be down south.. dominican or cuba they are thinking, but it's time for us to start saving so hopefully we can make it down. had a hard night with the babes last night, so its going to be an early night. he's in bed now, but fighting sleep, so i'm hoping that soon enough, it'll be off to bed for me. ps.. in keeping with my resolution.. mr. friend called today and asked if i could help him with a few things on the computer.. i went over for a couple of hours (without mark. big step.), did what i cou

resolutions

i have one major resolution this year. i'm going to try and be a nicer person. this is pretty much directed at one person. that might seem silly, but we have this friend who i tend to be rather.. short with. he annoys me, gets on my nerves and drives me crazy, but he's one of those people who would do anything for you and give you the shirt of his back if you were cold. i found out this christmas that he has no family. he spends the holidays alone every year, and doesn't get into the xmas spirit at all.. no tree, no one to have dinner with, nothing. i'm going to make much more of an effort to be nice to this person, spend time with him, and darnit, just be a better friend to someone who's been nothing but kind & generous to us..

welcome 2007

what a busy time.. i guess it comes with the territory when you have a family as large as ours. christmas was fun, a bit different this year of course and mostly in a good way. i was a little bit bummed that i had to skip out of church early on christmas eve.. alex was in prime-cranky time, and it was easier to make a quick getaway than to try and quiet him in the middle of church. i'll tell you though, nothing can make you feel guilty like walking out of a christmas eve service in the middle of the minister talking. this past week has included tons of tome with mark's family, a quick trip to the motor vehicle branch, mom & dad coming for a sleepover (!) on friday night, and then a fondue party with mark's sister, her family, his parents, and his aunt & uncle... good times...
