a little slow getting on the bandwagon...

but i just received the grey's anatomy season 1 dvd set for my birthday (thanks to my bro!), and am completely in love. what a fantastic show. i've watched the first 4 episodes already today and i'm sure the last 5 of this season will be watched before we head home for xmas on saturday! other great gifts i got for my birthday: a great pink & brown sweater, brown pants, a gorgeous necklace (think those circle diamond pendants that are always advertised on TV, and subtract most of the cost), shoes, fleecy jammies, scrapbooking stuff, makeup bags & brushes, and taken out to dinner & the theatre. am i spoiled? hell yes. am i apologizing for it? NO WAY! :D xmas is in one week.. i can hardly believe that in another 7 days , all the hubbub (spell?!), excitement, and fun will be over for another year. we're doing two christmases really.. one with my family on the 25th, one with mark's family on the 26th.. not much on the go for this week, really. i'

friday night we had our xmas party and then over to ed's for what was supposed to be a couple of drinks. those couple of drinks turned into 3 bottles of wine for cat & i, followed by a trip to the tavern. i was SICK, but i definitely needed the night out.

what a fast week!

this week went soo fast. headed back to chester on tuesday afternoon. wednesday, i spent the day in bridgewater shopping with my mother in law, thursday had a couple of friends drop in, and here it is friday already! we're dropping alex off at the sitter's around 2:00.. both mark & i have haircuts today, followed up by xmas wrapping & putting the outside lights up on the house, and then off to the xmas party at the innlet cafe in mahone bay. i'm actually really looking forward to today & tonight, first break i've had from alexander in a few days, and hubby & i are in desperate need of a date night. i find that after we both hit a certain point with no sleeping, and stressful days with the baby, we tend to argue quite a bit.. this week has been no exception, and i'm really hoping that we'll be able to enjoy the next 24 hours free from the baby and learn to enjoy each other again. don't get me wrong, i love alexander with my whole heart &

still.home.

alright. this needs to stop. i want to go home. not home to cumberland county home, but home to chester, to my house, my wonderful husband, and my adorable giant cat! i had full intentions to go back today, but mother nature beat me to the punch and the roads got very slippery very quickly this afternoon. so alexander and i are staying put for another night. tomorrow i'm going home to my house though darnit, no matter what happens. the big plan for this week.. weight watchers weigh in tomorrow since i missed today, our prenatal reunion class on wednesday, and friday night we're going to the xmas party for my former job , and since we have a babysitter for alex, i'm going to go out and get rip-roaring drunk and stumble home late at night.

home.

once upon a time, there was a girl named crystal who used to love packing up her car, and heading to beautiful cumberland county for some recharging at her parent's house. then, the unthinkable happened. her parents sold their house, and moved in with her grandmother. that's right. life has become increasingly difficult since my mom & dad moved into my grandmother's home. she's very hard to live with, and the stress level is so high that i swear, the place is a living, breathing stroke waiting to happen. anyway.. my vent for today is that she thinks that she knows everything that there is to know about raising babies. this from the woman who had one child almost 50 years ago, and only started taking care of her grandchildren after we were in school. so, tell me.. what makes her the expert on all things baby? i snapped at her this evening that i do know how to take care of alex.. he's my baby and i'm the one who has been tending to his every need for the

my favorite month.. christmas specials, parties & my birthday.. of course, along with all that comes the shopping, wrapping, cleaning, decorating, etc.. what a huge task for one or two days at the end of the month! i'm having a hard time getting in to the swing of things this year, which i don't really understand.. but, this weekend i'm going to make an honest effort to enjoy hearing the carols on the radio stations, and get into a more festive frame of mind. mom, marilyn & i are going on the christmas house tour tomorrow in amherst, and possibly hit up a couple of craft sales.. sunday we're putting up the tree here at mom & dad's.. surely that will help. it's a weird year... i'm normally soo excited to see christmas arrive, and thought for sure this year would be different since the baby is here.. i guess maybe because he just is too little to understand the whole concept, it's just not what i expected.. ask me again in a week or so!
